My name is Sharytta Marie Scroggins, I am an author of children’s books and an entrepreneur who developed a brand that focuses on teaching self-love to mocha girls around the world. I am also the CEO and founder of the clothing line and toy creation “Black Baby Doll, Emerald Emon Collection.” I was once a young girl who struggled with low-esteem and self-hate, and through my own journey of loving myself-I developed self-acceptance-emerging through my beauty with an astronomical glow that is ageless! It is my purpose and mission to instill the four pillars of self-love: Self-Esteem, Image, Confidence, and Uniqueness to all the mocha girls around the world.
I bet you are wondering how I came up with the brand name “Black Baby Doll, Emerald Emon Collection?” The name is symbolic-turning my self-hate into self-love, and my daughter’s magnificent color-that symbolizes the essence of beauty! When I was just a little girl-I remember going into the toy store, in the doll aisle, and passing up the dolls that mimicked my skin-I seen no beauty in them. I would reach for the white doll with urgency-the doll that looked nothing like me-the doll that represented the self-hate within me. I would hold on and cherish her-in hopes that I would one day look like her. I would one day have lighter skin, a different nose, and smaller lips-if only I was rich and could change these things about myself. Why would a three-year-old child-reach down in the depths of her soul, and desire to be something other than God designed her to be? Black Baby Doll, Emerald Emon Collection represents being black and proud. We are the Light and Seasoning to this earth!
